18 June 2003 - This will be the last update before the Cup - I'll be away from my computer for a while...

Many of you probably already know, but the following are the details on how to get your tickets for the Japan game - presuming your tickets haven't arrived - I don't know anyone who has received their tickets...

You can get duplicate tickets at Stade de France at the ticket office outside the stadium opposite Gate A.  You will need some ID.  You can get your tickets from 1pm onwards.

For Lyon, I couldn't understand half the words the recorded message said.  Some of it was that you could get duplicates from the snack shop in *******??? at 85 rue de la ********??? from 1pm onwards.  So that's not much help for you then!  I reckon someone will know by the time we get to Lyon anyway!

Go the All Whites!!!

Old stuff follows:

You could get yourself some tickets from http://fifaconfedcup.uk.francebillet.com/home.jsp. but it might be easier to buy them when you get to France!!

I called the ticket agency for the Confederations Cup today (2 June) and enquired as to the wehreabouts of our tickets.  As you know their standard line had been that tickets would be sent between the middle of May until 8 days before the match.  The guy I spoke to managed to look my name up on the computer and said that the tickets would be sent on Wednesday (4 June) - apparently the postal service is on strike tomorrow.  I also checked under the name of a person who bought tickets from NZ and it was the same story.  So I think everyone might be in the same boat - he seemed to hint it depended on when you booked them.  Given that we booked early I can't see that there's a better scenario for anyone...

He said the tickets would arrive mid next week at the latest and to call him if they don't arrive by Friday 13 June!  Bit late mate.

So for UK supporters it should be ok (if the tickets ARE sent on Wednesday I reckon we'll have them early next week at latest, if not by this weekend), however it will create all sorts of problems for many people travelling from NZ.  The tickets more than likely won't arrive until late next week which will onviously be too late for some fans who are getting to Paris early or having a beach soccer stopover in Hawaii.

I have complained to FIFA and the ticketing agency via email, this time a bit more forcefully.  I even copied it to the Pope hoping for some sort of holy intervention, but I'm not sure I got his email address right...

Cheers

Macca

I previously complained to the ticket agency on 21 March about the fact that we all had to purchase at the same time and this time their reply was as follows:

Dear customer,

Seats are allocated only at the sending which take place in the middle of
may until 8 days before the match. It's a special sending for those tickets.

Regards

FFF Ticketing Office

That would therefore suggest that buying tickets at the same time might not make any difference.

There is also a rumour that the ticket allocations will be made based on what address you have put down.

My previous post follows for reference....17 March 2003

I propose that for all who are keen to join the 'buy-at-once' idea I suggest that we all purchase tickets this Thursday, aiming for between 6pm and 6.15pm (UK time) or thereabouts.

Hopefully the time allows for both people who have access to the internet at work or can get to a computer after work.  The time also allows for those in NZ to book at the same time.  Alternatively you can ring the ticket line on + 33 142 315 979.

The bummer is that you can only buy 4 tickets at once.  I rang them up and they said they call only sell four tickets per call also.  So either way, four is the maximum.

Almost all feedback has been that supporters will be getting both the Lyon stadium pass and the Paris stadium pass - Category 3 tickets.

Please let anyone and everyone know...

My original post follows for reference....

I have received an email from FIFAs ticketing agent stating that the stadium pass tickets WILL BE NUMBERED.  Therefore we are going to need to purchase tickets together in order be sitting together.  The best I can really suggest, unless anyone has any other ideas, is that we all buy tickets on the internet at the same time of the day (ie between 6pm and 6.15pm on a particular day).  Presumably the computer system will allocate tickets in sequence.   That'll be a risk we have to take.  The maximum order on the FIFA site is 4 tickets, although I'm sure it initially said 20!

I've put a poll below please have a vote

From the last poll it seems that most are wanting to buy both the Paris stadium pass AND the Lyon pass.  For those only wanting to get a single ticket for the Lyon game, youll need to wait until April for the Lyon game, but I suggest you get your Paris pass at the same time as us.  We will be going for the 45 Euro pass which will hopefully give us seats in the area behind the goal.  If you have a problem with that please post a comment on the bulletin board and well see how many responses we get for or against.  Otherwise I will assume all who want be involved are happy with that

Youll need to make the call as to whether you get a Paris stadium pass for just the pool games or for the finals too (hopefully that wont affect the sequencing theory above!).

I don't think there is any real hurry but I suggest that we try to settle on a solution by mid March at the latest.

Note:  In all reality I don't expect the first two games to be particularly full and therefore it may be easy for all the Kiwis to move into a group anyway...

FYI  Myself and others have booked our accommodation for the pool games using www.expedia.co.uk as follows:

18 and 19 June at Relais De Paris Gare Du Nord T (£53 a night per room)

20 and 21 June at Hotel Campanile Lyon Perrache (£52 a night per room)

22 June back at Relais De Paris Gare Du Nord T
